Anemia tests

Anaemia, or anaemia, is a condition in which the body has insufficient red blood cells or haemoglobin, which means that the tissues do not get enough oxygen. It is usually caused by a deficiency of iron, vitamin B12 and other essential trace elements. Symptoms vary depending on the form and severity of anaemia: fatigue, weakness, pale or yellowish skin, shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, dizziness, etc. Some forms of anaemia (e.g. aplastic, haemolytic) can be inherited. Diagnosis is made by blood tests that assess the levels of iron, ferritin, vitamin B12 in the body.
