Coprological tests are performed to assess the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract and the functional status of its organs, especially in cases of suspected inflammatory processes, colitis or pancreatic disorders. The test analyses a stool sample, assessing its quantity, colour, consistency and pH reaction, and provides information on the activity of intestinal enzymes and the state of the rectum. A small amount of faeces taken in a special container, available in pharmacies, is usually sufficient for the test. Caprological tests not only assess digestive processes, but also detect the presence of various pathologies, such as the detection of causes of bleeding, which requires adherence to a certain diet before the test to avoid false results.
